Originally, a small logging town, Sweet Home was once known as the "Gateway to the Santiam Playground" to some. But locals like to think of it as "Oregon at its Best!".
Here, is found an abundance of recreational activities at Foster Lake and Green Peter Reservoirs ~ noted for their radiant sunrises and sunsets. The Santiam and Calapooia rivers that are located within the many county, state, and federal parks nearby. Fun and relaxation are our most renewable resources! So you can enjoy fishing, boating, hiking, hunting, swimming, rock hunting, or a picnic during spring and summer months; and in the Winter book a perfect getaway at very nearby (less than an hour's drive on the "Over the Hills and Through the Woods" Scenic Byway) Hoodoo Ski Bowl or Mt. Bachelor.
Imagine yourself on a summer evening camped out with friends and family under the stars at one of our local campgrounds; or you are welcomed to stay in our comfortable accommodations in town, all year round. Many visitors and locals alike enjoy a stroll downtown along Main or Long Streets; where you'll find interesting shops and a unique walk of murals depicting what out town was like in earlier, more rustic, times.

Make a plan to visit the East Linn Museum where the building, and grounds, display generations of artifacts about Sweet Home’s intriguing past. There are original tools, like cross-cut saws, that are among the surviving reminders of early logging methods. And most everyone who visits Sweet Home makes sure that they see the Weddle Covered Bridge, a community restoration project, that adjoins lovely Sankey Park. The Covered Bridge is a favorite location for weddings, anniversary parties, music, and dances.
Among the many reasons to come to Sweet Home, is to be here for the Northwest's largest Country Music Festival, the Oregon Jamboree. It draws crowds from all over the valley is the Frontier Sportman's Holiday, and of course, the Sweet Home Rodeo!
